Hip Hop Nature Boy and Other Poems

Hello everyone! This book has been sent to me by the publishers and I really liked it. Here's a review. This book is a collections of poems by Ruskin Bond. Though there are a few sad poems but there are more happy ones. Some of my favourites are Demon Driver, The Cat Has Something To Say and If Mice Could Roar . All these poems are the happiest and funniest in the book. (I even copied them and stuck them all over my notebooks. They are absolutely brilliant.) Though a few are a little far-fetched and there are some words I could not make sense of, this book is still a must-have for the kids who love poems or those who read them for good fun (like me). I did however wish the author to be a little less sentimental at times (that means sad). I don't think I know anyone who likes sad poems. 10 yr olds are more like the happy, bouncy type. Nevertheless, as there are more happy poems than the sad ones, this little thing did not bother me much. Yes, a few are boring, but there are

The One and Only Ivan

Bonjour, all! Another day, another review! This is one for The One and Only Ivan, a classic by Katherine Applegate. In this book, a lonely gorilla named Ivan, lives in a cage at a shopping mall. He doesn't even miss the jungle. But then, a baby elephant arrives and changes his life forever. What I really liked about the book was the fact that it was written in a gorilla's own words. As I quote my favourite line from the book "Homework, I have discovered involves a sharp pencil and thick books and long sighs." Katherine Applegate has written a very entertaining book. The story is very heart-touching and I really liked it. Score on the Peanut Meter: ★★★.7 out of 5 Sayanora*, Peanut * I'm kinda-sort of running out of words! Any suggestions??

Wonder

Hallo everybody,  Here's another book review on the book Wonder. Even before I read the book, I knew it was a big thing. Everyone in my school and class had heard of it. This book was constantly recommended to me by others so I finally went and issued it from my school library. (someone had always borrowed it.) I didn't know what to expect, but I still got it. Wonder is an amazing story which contains the message that one should not judge others by their face. Here's a summary: Wonder is a heart-touching story about a boy named August Pullman, who has been born with facial differences and starts going to school for the first time. It's not easy at all, but with new friends, Auggie might just pull through. This book is written in the disguise of different people in the story, each telling their own side. The different stories by each character really help you understand who did what and why they did it. R.J. Palacio is an amazing author who writes simple words but

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Theif

Hi, Peanut here, This is a new review for  the first book in the Percy Jackson series. Rick Riordan is one of my favourite authors. He describes everything so vividly and I really wished the book would go on. This book explains the life of a boy named Percy, who realizes that his father is one of the Greek Gods. Percy is now in more danger than ever, with monsters attacking from every corner and the main God, Zeus, accusing him of being the thief of his precious lightning bolt. To stop a huge war, Percy must return the bolt to Olympus before the deadline. With all this on his mind and Hades looking for revenge- hoo boy! This is going to be one tough summer. What I really liked about the book was the fact that Percy is a really good character who you know is going to make the story interesting. And it is! Percy and his friends really get into a lot of stick situations and have to think quick Rating on the Peanut Meter: ★★★.5 out of 5 Adios, Peanut

All Four Stars

Hey again, It's Peanut again, reviewing a second book. It's called All Four Stars. This book was recommended to me by my best friend, A.G and I borrowed it from her. (I had, in fact, gifted it to her in the first place without knowing.*) This book explains the life of a wanna-be chef, Gladys Gatsby. By the age of 11, she develops a passion and talent for cooking. Unfortunately, after a horrendous incident, she is banned from the kitchen forever. However, by pure accident, Gladys sends in a paper for an essay writing contest (that is not the accident) but her paper reaches the hand of the editor who then employs Gladys to be the new food critic for her newspaper. Now, Gladys has to sneak into the brand new restaurant Classy Cakes, to write a review. Can she do it? Introducing All four Stars, a fun-filled story and a must read for all those from the age of 9-12. I really think this is one of my favourite books so far. Gladys is a remarkable and likable character who

The Shy Supergirl

Hi everyone! This is my 1st book review on The Shy Supergirl, as the title already tells you. This book is not a 'You have to read it or else you'll go crazy' but it is nevertheless good. It has an interesting backstory, a girl who hates Hindi homework and a SUPERHERO! If you ask me, this book is perfect for those between the age of 7-9. I found myself wishing it would go on. I feel Mrs. Shabnam Minwalla has done a really good job and the illustrations by  Tanvi Bhat really brighten up the story, even if they're black and white. In this story, the main character, Nina, is just the sort of superhero who you would like to be, and you can tell this is going to be a short, but sweet story. No, I'm not like those people who go all lah-di-dah over books because they review them.( I'll have you know that the publishers of duckbill have not sent me this. I had it at home) These are my honest opinions. Here's a summary of the book: Meet Nina, the average 9 yea

Hi again, I know it hasn't been 10 minutes since the last post, but I wanted to tell you guys that another book company just hired me!!! I'm so happy I could scream, which I AM  going to do!! YAAAAAAYYYY! Adios, Peanut P.S. I'm just having second thoughts on whether it's good to be so excited on your blog or not. Help me out here!

Hi, I'm Peanut

Hello all. I'm Peanut, the average ten-year old child you might see around the corner, slouching and reading a book. Only, unlike most kids, I'm glad to say that I'm a student by day and a reviewer by night. Welcome to my blog. I am really  happy you chose it (even though I don't show it much.) I have just been employed by a book company to read their books and review them. No, I'm not getting paid, ( but I will negotiate after a few posts, don't worry, even if it's never going to happen) but I am getting to read a lot more books which is fine  great with me. I really hope you like my reviews and as for those who don't, well, I really hope that doesn't happen. Ciao for now, Peanut
